Visual research

Visual research involves gathering a wide range of visual elements and representations produced by / about OWS.

How to do visual research

One simple strategy involves the following process:

• Go to a camp
• Take pictures of as many tools, objects, practices within your domain of focus as possible
• Upload and annotate the pictures with description, analysis, historical precedents, etc.
• Wherever you upload them, be sure to tag them (with #OWS?)

Archive

• We need a gallery or centralized space to publish the visual archives, because media posted to commercial / social web is not persistent (it can be taken down at any moment for a number of reasons)
• For example, we might contact and coordinate with http://occupyarchive.org, although is not yet clear what kind of resources they have to build and maintain an effective and persistent archive

Tools

• Video and image compilation http://99percentmedia.org
